The general Ifugao term for the women’s skirt is ampuyo or tolge. There are various designs of the skirt, among them is the gamut which is exclusively used by members of the kadangyan class in the Kiangan area. The gammit is differentiated from other types of skirts by the various motifs applied to it, such as symbolic representations of rice and mountains which may be done through the binobodan method (tie-dying) or the hinukwit method (supplementary weft method).
