Blankets serve as a form of clothing for the Ifugao. One kind of blanket is the bayaung which features dark blue/black stripes alternating with red stripes and white bands. According to Lambrecht, the bayaung is, theoretically, the blanket of the wealthy. Various motifs are applied in the stripes of bayaung such as rice mortars, human figures, snakes, stars, lizards, and spears (Maramba 1998, 112).
