This unusually shaped basket is used to store the first rice grains kept by an elder and saved for the next planting season. The unusual sealed form of the basket prevents the cho-om to be exposed in too much air, retaining their crispiness. The common form of the kulikug is a container with two necks conjoined at the mouth, but, some would take the form of the chicken or bird and are known as samsamanok (Capistrano-Baker, 1998; Anderson, 2010; Through personal communication, 2021).
