Object Name: Gibu/Gubu

These fish traps are called in various forms. “Small fish traps (gubu) of this type are set in the mud of the rice terraces to catch tiny fish. The trap is submerged in the mud, and the opening, which faces up, is smeared with a bit of fermented rice mash (left over from the making of rice beer) to attract the fish” (Hamilton, 1998, p. 114).
