Object Name: Kinain

Provenance: Bauko, Mountain Province
Cotton
L 198, W 144 cm
Private Collection

Worn by deceased female kachangyan, the dark kinain is in stark contrast to the usually colorful lufid (skirt) worn by Bontok women. Just like most types of lufid, the kinain is constructed by stitching together three panels of cloth. Featured on both ends of the kinain are geometric motifs in red and yellow. The wakes ay inandula belt, used to secure the kinain, is similar to the other types of pakhget but is colored white with no applied motifs.
