Rattan, bamboo

MK Collection

Made of split rattan coiled over a rattan core, the kulbung, also called ulbong or orfong in other areas of Ifugao, is a household storage basket used for milled rice. It is made in a variety of shapes; some are patterned after the priced heirloom jars used by the Ifugao. Most pieces of kulbung have a handle for carrying and hanging the basket away from the reach of rodents (Lane 1986, 215).
